CWI Radiography Testing Services
We offer comprehensive radiography testing services conducted by a CWI to detect flaws that aren’t visible to the naked eye using sophisticated equipment and radioactive isotopes.
The two isotopes used for NDT in radiography testing are Cobalt 60 and Iridium 192.
Iridium 192 has a lifespan of 6 months and is used for weld inspections of less than 2”, while Cobalt 60 is used for welds of greater than 2” and has a lifespan of up to 13 years.
The benefits of radiography weld testing are:
• More portable and cost effective than x-ray imaging
• Can detect surface level and internal welding flaws

NDT Magnetic Particle Testing Services
Magnetic particle testing is a type of non-destructive testing weld inspection that generates magnetic flux to discover surface or near surface abnormalities, flaws or damage in items composed of steel or iron.
A portable electric generator is used to generate a current that results in magnetic flux for welding inspection, which is then measured by how it separates ferrous materials like iron filings found in the object in question. Our CWI will read this flux to detect the presence of any cracks, gaps, or other issues and note them accordingly.

• Can detect surface and below surface discontinuity

Liquid Penetrant Testing Services
D-Arrow Inspections also provides liquid penetrant weld testing services to simply and accurately detect surface breaks.
This NDT (non-destructive testing) method employs the use of a dye that is applied to a fully cleaned object. After this dye has been applied by a CWI and left to sit for about fifteen minutes, a chalk is applied to the welding inspection item in question, revealing any surface breaks or gaps that may otherwise be difficult to see.

Visual Testing Service
Visual weld testing is exactly what it sounds like; an experienced CWI conducts a visual welding inspection, searching for abnormalities, flaws or breaks. As the first and most obvious type of NDT, visual testing (VT) can be conducted relatively quickly (depending on the size of the weld(s)) and brings to bear the vast experience of our CWI in a hands on approach.
Ultrasonic Testing Service
Ultrasonic Testing conducted by a CWI is a highly efficient method of NDT (non- destructive testing) that is very accurate.
Ultrasonic equipment is used to conduct an ultrasonic pulse into the weld area, which can reveal surface and sub-surface breaks or flaws. This NDT type when conducted by one of our highly skilled CWI staff can reveal very small discontinuities and flaws in a variety of materials.
